How solar performs in summer heat and the monsoon
Why panels produce less on the hottest days, and what to expect in the rains.
Gujarat gets strong sunshine for most of the year, but generation still changes with the seasons.
Summer: bright but hot
Panels convert light, not heat, into electricity. As cell temperature rises, efficiency falls slightly; this is shown on the datasheet as the temperature coefficient. Good airflow under the panels, elevated structures and panels with a low temperature coefficient (such as many TOPCon models) help. Summer is still a high-generation season thanks to long, clear days.
Monsoon: lower but not zero
Cloud cover reduces generation, sometimes significantly on overcast days, but panels still produce from diffuse light. Rain also washes off dust, so output often jumps on the first clear day after a shower.
Winter: cool and clear
Lower sun angles mean shorter days, but cool temperatures help efficiency. Winter months are often very productive.
What this means for you
Net metering balances the seasons: surplus units in sunny months offset lower generation in the rains. Our generation estimates already account for seasonal variation. Estimate your yearly savings.
